Gender Awareness Training

8th February 2022 by Andro and Eve

This online session is designed to pass on knowledge and best practice, enabling you to better serve and meet the needs of clients, customers and audiences of all genders, particularly those who fall under the Transgender* umbrella.

Drawing upon Andro and Eve’s extensive experience in meeting the needs of the LGBTQIA community in creating safe and inclusive events, this session covers;

Context. Where are we at with Trans Rights in the UK?
Terminology. Words have impact. We explore definitions and when to use.
Best practice. Looking at practical steps to implement, in order to be inclusive of transgender and gender diverse people.
Sharing experiences. Stories help us make sense of the world. We use practical exercises to help develop understanding and participants to relate to the subject.

Outcomes – You will;

  • Feel more confident in your knowledge of the experiences of people who identify as LGBTQ+.
  • Understand what gender inclusive language is and when to use.
  • Understand the practical steps to help build gender inclusive practices and spaces.
  • Take away a resource sheet with content covered in the session along with further advice and resources.

Covering topics including language, intersectionality, non binary identities, gender in a global context, feminism, LGBTQ+ history and transgender health and equality and the law.

Here’s what one previous participant had to say – “A really valuable session – it covers the legal and practical aspects (and flaws!) and discusses ways forward. It encourages empathy and reflection. Really well facilitated.”

I am ENOUGH – Free Workshop for the LGBTQ+ Community

7th April 2021 by Learnest

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or inadequate, this workshop is for you. This is a space to find the positives & unlock your inner leader.

In the face of a challenging world, it is hard sometimes to feel enough. There is just so much to learn, achieve and to overcome to make sure our communities are protected, supported and allowed to thrive. It is hard to feel that we can meet all these demands – serve the full diversity of our communities with knowledge and understanding, provide all the support that is required, know exactly how and when to fight for more acceptance.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or inadequate in the face of this, this workshop is for you. This is a space to find the positives in our imperfections, learn that we are enough even when at times we fail, and most importantly see the value in vulnerability and owning our mistakes.

Hosted by SAM HOPE – non-binary & bisexual activist, trainer and therapist. Sam has experience working with LGBTIQA+ individuals in a number of capacities for many years. Through Sam’s work, they have gained a rooted appreciation of oppression and minority stress and built links to many communities across the world.

Imposter Syndrome Workshop by LEARNEST

3rd March 2021 by Learnest

Do you struggle with feelings of inadequacy? This workshop is specially designed to look at Imposter Syndrome through a queer lens.

Imposter syndrome is a phenomenon where you feel that your achievements or position are undeserved, or succumb to persistent anxiety and self-doubt despite apparent success and ability. It can drive people to overworking, perfectionism and chronic stress.

But what if we could befriend our imposter syndrome?

And what if it can teach us something about our internalised oppression?

This workshop helps us understand imposter syndrome, confront its messages and develop a positive relationship with some aspects of its effects while loosening its grip on our lives.

During this 90 minute online session, you will come together with other members of the LGBTQ+ community and explore strategies and techniques to support your wellbeing and challenge negative self-talk during this difficult time.

  • These sessions are only open to individuals who identify as LGBTQ+.
  • We use captions for our online events, if you have any additional adjustments please let us know when you book and we will do our best to accommodate.
