I am ENOUGH – Free Workshop for the LGBTQ+ Community

7th April 2021 by Learnest

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or inadequate, this workshop is for you. This is a space to find the positives & unlock your inner leader.

In the face of a challenging world, it is hard sometimes to feel enough. There is just so much to learn, achieve and to overcome to make sure our communities are protected, supported and allowed to thrive. It is hard to feel that we can meet all these demands – serve the full diversity of our communities with knowledge and understanding, provide all the support that is required, know exactly how and when to fight for more acceptance.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or inadequate in the face of this, this workshop is for you. This is a space to find the positives in our imperfections, learn that we are enough even when at times we fail, and most importantly see the value in vulnerability and owning our mistakes.

Hosted by SAM HOPE – non-binary & bisexual activist, trainer and therapist. Sam has experience working with LGBTIQA+ individuals in a number of capacities for many years. Through Sam’s work, they have gained a rooted appreciation of oppression and minority stress and built links to many communities across the world.

Imposter Syndrome Workshop by LEARNEST

3rd March 2021 by Learnest

Do you struggle with feelings of inadequacy? This workshop is specially designed to look at Imposter Syndrome through a queer lens.

Imposter syndrome is a phenomenon where you feel that your achievements or position are undeserved, or succumb to persistent anxiety and self-doubt despite apparent success and ability. It can drive people to overworking, perfectionism and chronic stress.

But what if we could befriend our imposter syndrome?

And what if it can teach us something about our internalised oppression?

This workshop helps us understand imposter syndrome, confront its messages and develop a positive relationship with some aspects of its effects while loosening its grip on our lives.

During this 90 minute online session, you will come together with other members of the LGBTQ+ community and explore strategies and techniques to support your wellbeing and challenge negative self-talk during this difficult time.

  • These sessions are only open to individuals who identify as LGBTQ+.
  • We use captions for our online events, if you have any additional adjustments please let us know when you book and we will do our best to accommodate.

Queer Politics & Histories of Kinks – Workshop

15th February 2021 by Courtauld LGBTQ Society

The Courtauld Institute of Art LGBTQ+ Society presents…
‘Queer Politics & Histories of Kinks’ @ 6-7.30PM on Monday 15th February
[email lgbtq@courtauld.ac.uk to register your interest and ask for the Zoom link]

This workshop will be led by the Courtauld’s own fabulous LGBTQ+ representative, Paula Onică, who will be helping us unravel the fascinating world of kinks in this semi-casual event. She’ll first walk us through a brief history of kink highlighting some of the problematic aspects of representation and will then invite us to join a roundtable discussion. Join us to debate issues like the politics of kink, the extent of one’s autonomy over one’s body, the need for representation in mainstream media, and (perhaps most importantly in this lockdown) whether modern porn is worth preserving?

Here are a few of Paulă’s words on queerness and kinks – “For some time the LGBTQ+ community overlapped and was synonymous with ‘kink’ in the popular imagination. Today the two are more clearly defined, yet kink is still not a subject the world feels at ease addressing. There is a need for representation and this community deserves recognition as a subculture in its own right. This event is an attempt to open up a conversation around the subject and help us find ways we can comfortably talk about it.”
