Breakout Youth is committed to supporting young people (aged 11 to 25 years) who identify as LGBTQ+, or who are questioning their sexuality and / or gender identity, across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. We are committed to creating safe confidential spaces for young people to be their true authentic selves, meet other LGBTQ+ young people, receive accurate and appropriate support and advice. Breakout Youth also offers one-to-one support, LGBTQ+ awareness and works to advocate on behalf of LGBTQ+ young people. Role terms Starting salary: Band A – £23,151 (Full Time Equivalent, pro-rata for part-time) Hours: 10 hours per week, which includes Monday and Tuesday evenings Role type: Permanent Place of work: Hybrid – Southampton and home working base, with travel to Southampton (Marchwood) and Basingstoke youth groups Essential car user: Yes Closing date: 9am on Monday 1 July 2024 Interview date: Week starting Monday 15 July 2024 About the role You will be supporting the delivery of youth work to young people, aged 11 to 25 years, who identify as LGBTQ+, or who are questioning their sexuality and / or gender identity, across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The role will involve supporting the delivery of youth groups (Basingstoke on Monday evenings and Marchwood on Tuesday evenings), one-to-one work, residentials, community events and LGBTQ+ Awareness sessions – and providing cover for annual leave, sickness and training. Working closely with the Lead Youth Worker to ensure young people have the best experience, stay safe and receive high quality support. This is an exciting opportunity to work with young people who identify as LGBTQ+ (or questioning) and it is also a great opportunity to learn about youth work and develop skills in this area. The successful candidate will have some experience of working with young people, with lived experience of the LGBTQ+ Community (either as a member of the community or an ally) who is passionate about delivering high quality services and experiences to young people.
