About Breakout Youth: Breakout provides crucial support for children and young people (CYP) aged 11-25 who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or are questioning their sexuality and/or gender identity. Our services operate across Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight and include: seven weekly support groups (6 in person and 1 virtual) , one to one support, LGBTQ+ specialist counselling, parent support, LGBTQ+ awareness training to professionals, LGBTQ+ awareness workshops to students, an LGBTQ+ library and LGBTQ+ events. Breakout is the only service of its kind in the geographic areas we work.  Our aim is to improve young people’s emotional and mental wellbeing and engagement in their local communities through providing safe, confidential spaces for young people to explore their identities, meet like minded young people, make friends and build a community and network of support.  Our weekly youth groups are themed around issues that young people face in their daily lives, and to support the development of skills such as communication, team work and self esteem and confidence. Breakout Youth is a service run by LGBTQ+ people, for LGBTQ+ young people, and the needs of LGBTQ+ young people are at the heart of what we do.

We are currently recruiting for trustees to support the growth and development of Breakout Youth- to help lead the organisation in achieving its aim to support and advocate for LGBTQ+ young people.  There isn’t a specific kind of person we are seeking to fill this position; all that we ask is that you are enthusiastic about the work that we do at Breakout Youth and that you are willing to use every opportunity as a chance to learn and develop (both yourself and the organisation) Breakout Youth is also a registered company, which means the Trustees are listed with the Charity Commission and appointed as Directors with Companies House. Please note- this is a voluntary position.
