Welcome to the Online National Transgender Memorial Consultation
We are excited to invite artists, designers, and creatives to submit their designs for the National Transgender Monument.
The Monument will replace the National Transgender Memorial in Manchester's Sackville Gardens following its removal after being irreparable damaged in August 2022.
We welcome submissions from both individuals or teams at any point in their career or practice.
Submissions will be assessed by a diverse and independent team of specialists and community members.
Design submission extended!
Submissions for the National Transgender Monument will be welcome till Tuesday May 30th, 2023.
Remember, submissions can be conceptual ideas, they do not need to be fully formed. Also, the selected artist(s) will not be obligated to deliver the project – only design it!
Fees
£1,000 for the selected design.
Additional artist(s) fee dependent on the required design development and involvement in manufacturing of monument.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a fee for submissions.

This brief has been developed from extensive consultation with transgender, non-binary and gender expansive people and their allies.
Submissions must be representative of the transgender, non-binary and gender expansive communities.
We are particularly interested in receiving responses from individuals or teams who belong to the transgender, non-binary and gender expansive community.
We also especially welcome designs from individuals or teams who are traditionally under-represented in public art design. This includes but is not limited to people of colour, young people, those from lower socio-economic backgrounds and people with disabilities.
