Star Support

Star Support

Star Support is a new London-based LGBTIQ+ domestic abuse refuge and community support service, working in partnership with The Outside Project. We are here to support London’s queer community by providing safe accommodation, community-centered support and advice.

Star Support is a by-and-for service. This means that our services are founded by LGBTIQ+ people with lived experience of domestic violence and homelessness. They are delivered by LGBTIQ+ people, for LGBTIQ+ people.

Star Refuge is our new accommodation-based service for LGBTIQ+ survivors of domestic abuse. This is the first by-and-for* project of its kind in the UK.

Star Refuge provides a safe place to stay and specialist support for LGBTIQ+ people experiencing domestic abuse. Each resident is given time for rest and recovery, a co-developed support plan, access to community support groups and therapeutic activities.

Those living in Star Refuge will receive:

  • Safe accommodation, which includes a private living space and access to communal areas.
  • Financial advice and support.
  • The opportunity to make new social connections within the LGBTIQ+ community, take part in group activities and build an accepting support system.
  • The opportunity to develop life skills.
  • Emotional and wellbeing support.
  • Support with moving on from our accommodation scheme.

Star Lounge is our weekly space in South London for survivors to come together to share experiences, support each other and gain new skills.

At Star Lounge, we provide a range of different sessions, aimed to create a safe social space for LGBTIQ+ people who have experienced domestic abuse. This includes therapeutic and wellbeing-focused sessions as well as outings and other fun activities.

When: Every Thursday between 10:30 – 16:00.
Where: The Outside Project LGBTIQ+ Centre, 52 Lant Street, London, SE1 1RB.

Each month…

  • On the first and third Thursdays of the month, facilitators run a variety of creative sessions, including art and music workshops.
  • On the second Thursday of the month, we have a social space in the morning and are visited by Open Barbers in the afternoon.
  • On the last Thursday of the month, a reflexologist comes in to provide therapeutic treatments.
