Somewhere To Belong

Somewhere to Belong is a digital archive that collates interviews with people who are attracted to more than one gender.

The archive is a platform for people to voice their experiences as a member of the Bi+ community, and includes interviews with people who identify as bisexual, pansexual, queer, asexual, polysexual and more. The public archive currently consists of over 30 transcripts from interviews with people from around their world, and its aim is to create an online community which amplifies the issues faced by the bi+ community in contemporary society. We seek to celebrate the lives of people who are attracted to more than one gender through our digital collection.

The archive was developed in 2020, when UK theatre company Sycorax Collective began to create a piece of theatre about bisexuality, and the challenges faced by people who are attracted to more than one gender. To develop a show that reflected not just their own experiences, but those of others in the community too, they decided to have conversations with as many people as possible, and asked them to put their voices on record as part of a collection of interviews.

These interviews have now been developed into an archive of contemporary Bi+ experience, with interviewees from around the world. The archive is still growing, and we are still seeking new conversations to add to this collection.
