Originally launched as week long series of LGBTQIA+ friendly events leading up to Herts Pride 2023, Proud Watford is partnering with event organisers, venues and businesses to create and promote events that celebrate and welcome the local LGBTQIA+ community throughout 2024 and beyond with the aim of making Watford a “place without prejudice”.

In its first week in August 2023 there were events at the d20 Board game café, The Garden Rooms and The Random Café, drop-in bereavement counselling at Watford Museum, a celebratory inclusive cycle ride with Watford Cycle Hub, plus the launch of the “Proud Portraits” at West Herts College – a collection of portraits of local Watford people, deliberately not classified by name, age, sexuality, identity – on show at various Watford venues thoruhgout the year.
