Pink Sou’westers – Birmingham’s LGBT Social Network

Pink Sou’westers offers affordable, accessible, inclusive, non-scene events and activities for lesbians, gay men, bisexual and trans people and their guests regardless of age or area of residence. We are a mixed group appealing to more mature LGBTs with an age range mostly 40 upwards but we welcome everyone. When not under Covid restrictions we organise a weekday evening or occasionally weekend event every month, offering a very eclectic and diverse range of activities, and have included e.g. Archery, ballroom dancing, curry nights, giant Scalextric, Laser Quest, country walks, cocktail making, watercolour painting, BBQs, and the annual Queer Quiz. In addition we have a daytime event on the third Thursday of each month, when we visit museums, and guided talks and tours of various organisations, buildings or services of heritage, civil, cultural or environmental interest, as diverse as the Magistrates Courts, heritage cemeteries and local refuse disposal facilities as well as stately homes and country parks. One constant is that our visits are always followed by optional lunch together! We do not have a regular meeting time or place, though most events are held in  South, West or central Birmingham or the surrounding areas in the West Midlands, but are entirely dependent on the type of activity and where it is available. Since March 2020 all events including socials, quizzes and presentations have been held on line, and we will continue to hold some events on line in the future as we return to ‘in person’ events and activities. Events are promoted via our email network, to join send an email with your name to We also have a postal mail out periodically for those without email.
