The LGBT Federation North East was established in 2005. We work to unite LGBT individuals, groups, organisations and communities across the North East of England. We draw our members from across the whole region and across the different groups within the LGBT community. Our approach and our membership cross age, cultural and religious backgrounds and include disabled and non-disabled people. We undertake research and develop self-sustaining activities that aim to change attitudes and behaviours towards LGBT people. We have a campaign and policy group, and an events group. We also have special interest groups such as the parenting group, walking group, and asylum seekers group. The Fed is run by and for its members, but the day-to-day business is looked after by a management group comprising formal directors of the company, who are appointed at the Annual General Meeting in the Autumn.
