We are a small charity created back in 2019, we were obivously halted due to covid but that didnt stop us. We went onto Zoom like the whole world did and continued to plan, progress and make sure we could create a Pride Event when we was allowed to.
July 2022 came and we had our first march and small celebration afterwards. We were overwhelmed with joy with the amount of people that turned up, we were only expecting 150-200 people but over 1000 people came to march, protest, dance, drink and to have fun.
We also want to support the community throughout the year, we hold monthly social events in the local bar and pubs. There really wasnt a Pride scene in our town and with out socials we have made the nightlife safer and created better relationships with the businesses and they support the lgbtq+ community. We are also are having a drag brunch once a month to help raise some money and just to enjoy.
Since the end of 2022 we have been working with the local council to help improve the health care in the community so people wont have to travel to get the help they might need. We are also working with local charities to improve HIV education and awareness with free HIV testing provided by the council and we are also trying to figure out a plan as a committee to show how it easy it to test.
We are also trying to help and support the youth community, providing education and support to who might need it. Also working with the local College to start up a support group for 16-18 year olds.
