MEWSo’s mission is to support and empower BME women in London to rebuild their lives. Our mission is to work to prevent and end violence and abuse against women as well as providing services to meet the needs of survivors. Our work is holistic and empowering, working alongside survivors to achieve independent lives free from abuse. Our mission is to promote and facilitate equality, integration, community cohesion and cross-cultural understanding.
Our upcoming project is aimed at LBT women in BME communities, to offer support for BME women who have experience violence and/or rejection for their sexuality/gender (specifically trans women who face higher chances of violence than cis women), while also educating our community on LGBT issues, so that we can create a more accepting society within our Middle Eastern, Asian, and North African communities. Our art and storytelling workshops as well as LGBT classes for mothers will start around March 2020. We are in the process of recruiting more LGBT employees as well as clients, while also finalizing workshop and class details. We would love to get involved with more LGBT organisations in order to continue educating ourselves on LGBT issues in order to play our part in preventing them.
