LGBT HERO is the Health Equality and Rights Organisation for LGBTQ+ people. LGBT HERO is the parent organisation of:
LGBT HERO aims to improve the health, enhance the wellbeing and champion the rights of LGBTQ+ people. LGBT HERO provides LGBTQ+ people with accurate and credible information so they can build skills that enable them to make informed choices about their health and wellbeing. We encourage LGBTQ+ people to create social change in our communities by providing a platform where they are heard and valued.
LGBT HERO has two primary projects through which we address health and social inequalities within LGBTQ+ communities:
Set up in 1992 to tackle the high numbers of gay and bisexual men dying from AIDS, GMFA still has at its core a desire to tackle the number of men who are being diagnosed with HIV. These men continue to be affected by HIV stigma and face health and social inequalities related to sex and sexual health, meaning our work remains as important as ever.
OutLife was set up in 2017 to tackle the high numbers of LGBTQ+ people being affected by mental health issues and dying by suicide, while tackling other health and social inequalities LGBTQ+ people face on a daily basis.
