CAGS was founded in 1971 and is primarily a social group but has in the past done considerable campaigning. It has a written constitution and is run by an elected committee. It currently has just under 90 paid up members.
In return for their annual subscription members receive a monthly newsletter which sets out the activities CAGS is offering. Some events take place in members’ houses whilst others are in the public domain. There are also sub-groups consisting of a tennis section, a music appreciation group and a reading group.
