Bude Pride

Bude Pride is an LGBTQ+ Community Interest Company that takes an intersectional approach towards facilitating equality through means of education, local safe spaces and positive representation.

By collaborating with local educational facilities, mental health initiatives and businesses, together we can work towards the prevention of ignorance-based prejudice; ensuring that everyone feels able to be their authentic selves.

As we grow up, from childhood to adolescence we form our identity and should be nurtured as we grow, explore and develop, confidently becoming the person that we are happiest being. Ensuring our town is inclusive, accepting and kind will cultivate positive mental health and well being not just for those identifying as LGBTQ+ but for everyone. We have a theory… acts of prejudice occur from ignorance, ignorance comes from alack of knowledge, and knowledge initially stems from education.

We’re confident that by appropriately normalising diverse relationships (as opposed to solely hetero-normative relationships), gendered behaviours and using language inclusive of LGBTQ+umbrella terms through the means of resources and intersectional representation in the school curriculum, providing lesson and teaching plans, as well as inclusive children’s books, then incidents of prejudice whether criminally or an uninvited passing comment will considerably decrease.

We have already had amazing feedback from the current schools we are working with in our local area, who have been really supportive and engaged with what we are offering.
