BLUF is a group for men (primarily gay men, and including transgender men) with an interest in leather uniforms. We have over 4,500 members in more than 50 countries. Membership is free to those who meet our dresscode.
We operate a website (BLUF.com) which provides social connections and resources – such as directories of events, photographers, venues, shops, as well as the ability for users to exchange messages individually or in groups.
Our volunteers arrange events around the world; pre-pandemic this would typically be 150-180 events, ranging from dinners and bar nights to cinema trips or participation in Pride Events. Events are regularly held in cities including London, Paris, Berlin, Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC. Most events are free to attend; some have a leather dresscode.
In addition, many of our members are active in other areas, for example we campaigned to help save The Backstreet, London’s only surviving leather bar, from redevelopment.
We use our social media channels to promote our events, those of other organisations we feel will be of interest to our members, and at times to raise awareness of key issues – for example, we have recently been fundraising for Rainbow Railroad, to help get LGBTQ people to safety.
