BIJOU Round 3-a66dc13f

Bijou Stories is a socially-engaged arts project that supports creative representation of the LGBTQ+ community.

Previous projects included The Shame Show at MK Gallery, Milton Keynes, Walk of Shame at Tate Britain and In Every Dream Home at the Hayward Gallery.

Bijou Stories created the Rebel Dykes podcast which looked at the stories behind the scenes of the film and exhibition.
We have been running the popular, family oriented WigOut! workshop across London including at Canary Wharf, St Pauls and Trafalgar Square.

Our project exploring the lost gay bars of Lewisham, “Where to, now the sequins have gone” was selected for the We Are Lewisham/Goldsmiths project In Living Memory. The project saw us collecting stories of the lost gay bars and commissioning young LGBTQ+ artists to expand the ideas and concepts into an empty shop unit in Lewisham shopping centre. The space hosted a nomadic archive of memories and site specific artworks that created a reimagined gay disco of the 70s/80s.
