Ajamu Studios

Artist Development:
An accessible photographic studio/meeting place aimed at predominantly Black and LGBTQ+ photographers, creatives and lens-based artists. A studio for nurturing ideas in progress and artistic projects. The studio produces photographic workshops, masterclasses and networking opportunities. Photographers and lens-based media artists will benefit from access to our extensive networks of established artists, photographers, local, national and international museums, galleries, alternative spaces, and opportunities to navigate the photographic industry and public art world.

Critical Praxis:
There is a great need for a more diverse and nuanced understanding of Black LGBTQ+ photographic cultural production, fine art via a profoundly celebratory and aspirational lens. Individuals and the community will benefit through an ongoing exchange , intergenerational dialogue with established artists-photographers, artists talks, seminars with expert educators, mentoring and one to one support.
