Senior LGBT Counsellor (0.4 FTE)

Location: London
Closing Date: 24th Jan 2022
London Friend (560p)

Employment Type: Employed

We’re looking for a Senior LGBT Counsellor to support our mental health work.

London Friend runs a busy, specialist counselling service for LGBT people. Clients may bring any issues to the service and are choosing us because they wish to work with LGBT-identified counsellors.

The issues clients bring to counselling are becoming increasingly complex, including dealing with the impact of Covid-19. We are now recruiting a senior counsellor to assist with this.

London Friend is an organisational member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), however counsellors come from a range of theoretical orientations and may be accredited with other bodies such as the UKCP.

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery and administration of counselling, including providing assessments for clients who may subsequently be allocated to our team of volunteer counsellors. This post would be suitable for someone who is currently practicing or who has been practicing as a counsellor or a psychotherapist with extensive experience of working with LGBT people, and who has excellent organisational skills to manage the administrative duties of the role. The case load is expected to be around 8 – 10 clients per week.

This role will be a mix of in-person and online delivery. In person work will be delivered from our building in Kings Cross. The two days equivalent time may be delivered flexibly over two or more days in agreement with the postholder.
