Galop, the UK’s LGBT+ anti-abuse charity, is seeking an experienced service manager who is passionate about making a change for LGBT+ victims and survivors of abuse and violence to lead our developing in-house Therapeutic Service.
Galop works directly with thousands of LGBT+ people who have experienced abuse and violence every year. We specialise in supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, and other forms of abuse including honour-based abuse, forced marriage, and so-called conversion therapies. We are a service run by LGBT+ people, for LGBT+ people, and the needs of our community are at the centre of what we do.
We run four national support helplines for LGBT+ victims and survivors of: domestic abuse; hate crime; rape and sexual abuse; and so-called “conversion therapy”. We provide advocacy services, both in London and nationally, for LGBT+ victims who need longer-term support. We are person-centred, empowerment-based, and trauma-informed – meaning our focus is always on helping our clients decide what is best for them, and then supporting them through their journey.
We use what we learn through working on the frontlines with clients to work on national and local policy change, to improve outcomes for LGBT+ victims and survivors of abuse and violence. We build evidence through key pieces of research, like our upcoming report into LGBT+ experiences of sexual violence. We push for legislative change, improved statutory guidance for victims, and better understanding of the needs of LGBT+ people around the country.
We are looking for an experienced service manager to support and develop the counselling service. You will play a key role in ensuring high quality provision and performance and strategic development of our therapeutic services. This role will hold responsibility for ensuring the operations and systems (for example room bookings, waiting list, referrals) that the service requires are efficient and client centred.
Galop’s free-at-point-of-use counselling service provides a range of therapeutic support for LGBT+ survivors of abuse and violence. The service works to address the barriers to counselling that some LGBT+ people experience and provides a safe, confidential and affirmative service for our clients.
We’re looking for someone with experience of working with and managing counselling services in a voluntary sector setting. You should have experience of managing risk, reporting to funders and providing line management to counsellors and other staff. You’ll have a strong trauma informed approach to your work and a passion for high quality services. You’ll need to have good resilience and self-care, and a strong understanding of the needs of LGBT+ victims and survivors.

Location
Galop’s offices are in central London. The Galop therapeutic service is delivered at Galop’s London office and online and so staff can work from the office, remotely or hybrid.

Part time (0.6). Permanent.

Salary
£39,534.35 – £42,594.64 (Full time equivalent, including £4,009.14 London Weighting).
