Solidarity and Pride: LGBTQ+ Jews and Travellers in conversation

A conversation and Q&A with LGBTQ+ Jews and Travellers spanning our experiences in our communities and what solidarity looks like

Join us for a powerful and practical conversation with LGBTQ+ community activists from Jewish and Traveller communities. We learn how they have navigated their LGBTQ+ identities, and how those experiences can inform what cross communal solidarity for Jews, Travellers and their respective LGBTQ+ communities can look like during Pride month, GRT history month, and beyond.

In conversation will be:

  • Charley Katan is a researcher, educator, activist and the co-founder and Musical Director of Veranenu, an emergent egalitarian, progressive Jewish community based in London. Charley was previously a Movement Worker for RSY-Netzer and recently completed a MSc in Migration Studies which focused on the diaspora mobilisation of Jewish youth.
  • Chelsea McDonagh is a Senior Researcher, Irish Traveller activist and writer. She is one of the co-founders of the Rom Belong programme, a KCL WP programme for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller pupils and is passionate about improving opportunities for young people. Chelsea is a Fellow on the Civic Futures Programme.

Chaired by Esther Raffell, a René Cassin campaign officer and queer Jewish organiser focused on fostering Jewish community support for a range of issues.
