Join us at the historic Bishopsgate Institute in London for an afternoon of celebration with LGBTQIA+ people with South Asian heritage. The event will be made up of a mixture of performances, workshops and time to meet new people.
You are welcome to bring your partners or close friends, even if they don’t have South Asian heritage – just make sure they also sign up for a ticket.
The Performances
There will be time at the beginning and the end of the event for you to share your stories. This could be in the form of some music, writing or a performance. This is completely optional.
You will be sent a signup sheet after you book your ticket. Performance slots are limited and will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. Each performance should last a maximum of 10 minutes.
The Workshops
Attendees will have the option of attending one of these workshops on the day:
You can sign up for the workshop of your choice at the event.
Time to meet new people
There will also be time to speak to, connect and network with other people over snacks and hot drinks.
About the Open Minds Project
The Open Minds Project started in 2019 as a monthly London-based support group for LGBTQIA+ people with Punjabi heritage. Since then we have continued to create positive and uplifting spaces for LGBTQIA+ people with South Asian heritage in the UK, including peer support groups in London, Birmingham and online.
We have a podcast and Youtube channel and you can find out more on our website www.theopenmindsproject.org
This event is not for profit and we are all volunteers.
If travel costs are an obstacle to attending the event, please contact us at [email protected] to see if we can help cover some of your costs.
