Islamophobia Awareness Month

Islamophobia Awareness Month was founded in 2012. At the end of this month, three of our volunteers will be having a panel discussion about the impact of Islamophobia. They will be sharing their lived experience of being LGBTQ+, Muslim and people of colour.

  • How does Islamophobia affect LGBTQ Muslims specifically?
  • Can we have a nuanced discussion about the Qatar World Cup, acknowledging the impact of homophobia AND colonialism on existing anti-LGBTQ laws?
  • What does intersectionality mean?
  • Where does trans and nonbinary inclusion fit into this?

Please note that we may be discussing triggering or difficult topics. Be sure to take care of yourselves, and remember:

  • Participation is completely voluntary.
  • Feel free to keep your camera off and/or just use the chat if you feel more comfortable.
  • This is a safe space for queer Muslims, run by queer Muslims, and we will make every effort to maintain that safety.
