We invite you to the theme launch for LGBT+ History Month 2023:
#BehindTheLens
At 6.30pm (GMT) on Thursday 24th November we will be beaming to you live from the Cinema Museum in London.
Join us in:
Claiming our past – Celebrating our present – Creating our future
We are joined by the co-founder of LGBT+ History Month Professor Emeritus Sue Sanders and Stuart Milk from the Harvey Milk foundation, alongside a panel of experts, who will introduce the theme and faces for 2023.
The LGBT+ History Month 2023 theme celebrates LGBT+ peoples’ contribution to cinema and film from behind the lens. Directors, cinematographers, screen writers, producers, animators, costume designers, special effects, make up artists, lighting directors, musicians, choreographers and beyond.
At a time when LGBT+ lives are in the media we also encourage you to look ‘Behind the Lens’ and listen to LGBT+ peoples’ lived experiences.
LGBT+ History Month (#LGBTplusHM) is celebrated every February across the UK, and was founded in 2004 by Schools OUT co-chairs, Paul Patrick & Professor Emeritus Sue Sanders. It was first celebrated in February 2005.
Every year Schools OUT sets a different theme for LGBT+ History Month and provides free resources for education settings, businesses, services and organisations to help them celebrate and #usualise LGBT+ lives in their full diversity.
