Research Lead

Location: London
Closing Date: 22nd Sep 2023
FOTJA

Employment Type: Employed

Friends of the Joiners Arms are recruiting a Research Lead to design and coordinate a 12 month project exploring how best to provide employment and training opportunities to LGBTQIA+ people facing homelessness or seeking asylum.

The research aims to address their exclusion from vital LGBTQIA+ community spaces and safe employment, training, and volunteering opportunities. The insights from this project will help us provide such opportunities at our new community-run venue in East London, which will be opening soon. It will also offer valuable information to other community groups and venues looking to do the same.

The project will involve a mixture of desk research and ethnographic work that foregrounds the voices of LGBTQIA+ people seeking asylum or facing homelessness. We will collaborate with up to 5 grassroots organisations (including The Outside Project and African Rainbow Family) representing these groups. The Research Lead will be responsible for developing relationships with our partners and designing, conducting, and presenting the research with their input.
