Stonewall Housing Appoints New Chief Executive

Charity specialist Steven McIntyre has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of Stonewall Housing with plans to build on the success of the previous 36 years and reach more LGBT+ people who need housing support.

Steven, who will take up the role in March 2020 has a background in social work and recently completed the Cranfield School of Management MBA after securing the third sector scholarship in 2017. Steven has extensive charity experience and currently leads a significant portfolio of services for Barnardo’s.

Helen Randall, Chair of Trustees for Stonewall Housing said;

“The Trustees are extremely pleased to be able to announce that Steven will be joining us as Chief Executive. He is a proven leader with a strong reputation for excellence and passion for equality and inclusion.

“Steven joins Stonewall Housing at an exciting time as we enter a new phase of organisational development as our previous Chief Executive Bob Green steps down after 14 years. His extensive experience working in the charity sector will be invaluable to us, particularly as we are also celebrating being registered by the charity commission.”

On accepting the role Steven McIntyre said;

“Stonewall Housing does the most amazing work helping tens of thousands of LGBT+ people over the years. I am just delighted to be given the opportunity to lead the organisation as we continue this great work, particularly as there is still so much to do.

“LGBT+ people are at increased risk of homelessness simply because of who they are. This is unacceptable and has to change. I will work tirelessly to bring Stonewall Housing’s mission to life, ensuring real, lasting change for individuals, communities and throughout the UK.

“I look forward to working with staff, trustees, volunteers, partners and the legendary House of Stonewall as together we build a future where LGBT+ people can live authentically in safe, secure homes.”

Stonewall Housing would also like to take this opportunity to announce the creation of their new charitable arm.

Sharron Webster, partner at Trowers said;

“It has been rewarding working with Stonewall Housing, helping them set up a charitable arm to explore new fundraising and engagement opportunities with corporate, charity and philanthropic partners. Their mission reflects our inclusive culture at Trowers and we look forward to seeing the business grow and develop with a dedicated division to raise awareness of their efforts.”
