Welcome to our dedicated page for Volunteers Week 2022!

It goes without saying that the LGBTQIA sector would not be where it is without all the volunteers sharing their passion, energy and time to support their communities.

Volunteering keeps our communities going, and Volunteers Week is a week where we recognise and celebrate the contributions from LGBTQIA volunteers all over the UK.

Resources

Introduction to Trusteeship Expand

The Introduction to Trusteeship session will suit those who are thinking about becoming a trustee, are new to trusteeship or those wanting a refresher on trusteeship. Sessions are delivered by Reach Volunteering.

Developing a Volunteer Programme Expand

Volunteer Essentials Expand

Take a look at our Top 10 Volunteer Essentials with hints and tips from our members

Whether you are creating a volunteering programme from scratch or updating an existing one, there are some essentials that you need to think about and put in place before you start to recruit people.

Volunteer Wellbeing Expand

Previous Volunteer: "Burnout can be tricky to navigate when we don't have healthy boundaries. Setting and maintaining boundaries with others protects our mental health and well-being. When we have those main factors in place, we can achieve so much more as it comes from a space of fulfilment rather than from a place of burnout".

Take a look at our Volunteer Wellbeing factsheet with hints and tips on how to look after yourself and avoid burnout.

NCVO Volunteering Resources Expand

NCVO has many excellent resources on volunteering and we have picked three resource pages that can guide your next steps, whether you are looking to recruit volunteers for the first time or want to find out how to help your existing volunteers develop their skills and knowledge even more.

Understanding volunteering
This resource page explores what volunteering is, why you should involve volunteers, how to write a volunteer strategy and EDI in volunteering.

Recruiting and welcoming volunteers
This resource page provides guidance on involving volunteers, looking at how to recruit volunteers, writing a volunteer agreement, running a volunteer induction, how to recruit volunteers that claim benefits (which you definitely should!) and how volunteering might affect their benefits claim, as well as what to do if you are recruiting volunteers from overseas.

Valuing and developing volunteers
Pick up useful tips on how to help your volunteers develop, how to provide accreditation on your volunteers development and last but not least: get ideas on how to thank your volunteers for their wonderful contributions.

NCVO resources are normally for their members only, but they are currently moving website and all their resources should be available to all until the end of July 2022.
