LGBT+ Futures Programme: Intersections Fund

3rd February 2020 by Philip

We are very excited to announce a new small grants funding opportunity that opens to applications today (Monday 3rd February). Thanks to the generosity of an individual Donor, Consortium will be distributing a total pot of £20,000 in grants.

Applications will be open to LGBT+ non-profit groups, organisations and projects that support and improve the lives of LGBT+ people of faith, LGBT+ people of colour and LGBT+ women in recognition of the underrepresentation and higher levels of marginalisation and discrimination faced by these members of our communities.

Applications can be for any amount up to a maximum of £5,000 but it should be noted applications above £2,500 will be exceptional. We are keen to maximise this funding and fund as many viable projects as possible, so we expect the average grant amount awarded to be in the region of £500-£2,500.

Applications are now open and will close at 5pm on Monday 2nd March 2020. More details can be found here: www.consortium.lgbt/grantgiving/lgbt-futures-intersections-fund

Happy Queermas

18th December 2019 by Philip

Stonewall Housing is the UK’s oldest LGBT+ specific housing support and advice service. They help over 1000 LGBT+ people a year access safer homes and spaces. They have 51 bed spaces (including a Trans only scheme) for people who have been made homeless as a direct result of their gender identity and/or sexuality.

Their Christmas text campaign – QUEERMAS – aims to get every service user living in one of their schemes a £10 gift voucher for Christmas. For their young people who have been rejected and isolated from their families and communities, Christmas is an even harder time than usual. Many of them wake up alone without friends or family, and rely on food banks or local charity Christmas meals to attend. We want to make sure everyone gets a little something to open this year.

It’s very simple to donate, just text the word QUEERMAS to 70085  to donate £10 to the appeal.

Camden & Islington LGBT History Month 2020

5th November 2019 by Philip

forum+ is seeking submissions for the Camden & Islington LGBT History Month programme.

LGBT History Month is an annual celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender history held during the month of February. forum+ along with its partners in the boroughs of Camden and Islington will be hosting and promoting a series of events to celebrate the lives and achievements of LGBT people.

Last year’s programme featured over 40 events with a great diversity of subjects and voices represented. Previous programmes have included a very broad range of events including craft workshops, discussions, exhibitions, films, guided walks, plays, performances, commemorations of local LGBT figures, talks and more. We want to continue to bring a fabulous programme of local events and activities across Camden and Islington and would very much like you to take part in the month’s celebrations.

The theme for LGBT History Month 2020 is Poetry, Prose and Plays. Any ideas for events are very much welcome and as always we welcome submissions to the programme regardless of whether they are on theme. If you are interested in organising an event based in Camden and Islington please complete and return the submission form to let us know what events or activities you may be planning and would like to be included in the Camden & Islington LGBT History Month programme booklet.

The absolute deadline for submissions is Friday 6th December 2019. Due to the finite size of the programme booklet, it is best to send in your submission as soon as possible in order to guarantee inclusion. If you would like to discuss any ideas for events, please contact forum+ via 0207 380 5720 or email [email protected]
