About the host

Naomi is taking her existing knowledge of the community and combining this with her experiences and passion around film. Naomi is the one with the grand ideas! Nothing is impossible… she is dedicated to film, women, and getting film to women! Naomi has spent the better part of her adult life trying make sure us queer women are getting the representation we rightfully deserve, both through Lesflicks and previously through Planet London/Planet Nation. ➡️How to watch the film for the watch parties
We come together on Zoom, but we watch the series on our own devices so you will need access to Lesflicks to rent the title. If you are on an iPad/iPhone you cannot use Zoom and watch video at the same time due to something in the set up of Apple Devices. So you will need to leave the zoom whilst we are watching the title. We will let you back in!!! The films are on LesflicksVOD and our new platform allows you to pop out the player so you can watch the film and chat about it on zoom at the same time!

If you don’t already subscribe, Lesflicks offers a 3 day free trial. A small monthly fee and you get unlimited content – think of it like a lesbian Netflix!

WLW Film and Series Networking Event

30th April 2021 by LesFlicks

Are you a creator of lesbian/bisexual films? Maybe a writer, director, producer, actor, or crew? Do you want to or currently Exec produce? No matter what your interest or experience, if you want to see more women loving women characters and stories on screen we invite you to a face to face networking event on Zoom.

At Lesflicks, we’re working to increase the knowledge of and access to lesbian/bisexual film and series. We are also looking to connect with and help to network filmmakers, producers, directors, actors and crew to network. We know how hard it is to find cast and crew for productions. We also know how hard it is to produce and to fund. We want to facilitate a networking event. To hear challenges, share successes and see what, where and how we can help. We already have some ideas but we want to hear from you! We also want to bring you together.

Hosted by Lesflicks; we will have a quick 15 minute introduction, followed by 30 minutes of general discussion around the current position of lesbian/bisexual film. Following this we will open break out rooms and you will be able to go into various rooms to chat face to face with other people at the event. At the end we will come back together to share what we’ve discussed.

We will also be launching our filmmaker resources:
LBTQ Film Database listing all lesbian & bisexual films. We’re also working on a proper database of all films and series featuring wlw… this is no small task and a work in progress.
LGBTQ+ Film Festival Database listing all LGBTQ film festivals around the world
LBTQ People Database listing all directors, producers, crew to help find people for projects. We are creating a LBTQ filmmaker database to help networking and finding crew and actors.
LGBTQ+ Musician database listing a selection of musicians who are open to having their music used in film
Film Production Slate database listing projects seeking producers, directors or investors
All of these databases are connected and interlinked. We hope these resources plus this event (and future events) will result in good connections, and perhaps lead to some projects!

We will be announcing a new partnership to spearhead and create private investment vehicles to fund new wlw content. Starting with web series, but seeking to extend out to films down the line. We will explain how this scheme will work and announce the dates for pitching for the first phase.

Around the world, the LGBT community operates on a shoestring budget. This is especially true when it comes to queer visual content such as web series. Although the queer community is perpetually hungry for more representation, the community as a whole struggles to effectively raise funds to make that happen.

If crowdfunding is unreliable and self-financing a painful burden at best, an insurmountable obstacle at worst, where does that leave content creators? Well come along to this event and find out!!

Important: the confirmation with the zoom link is sent via email so check your spam and junk folders!

London Bisexuals Monthly Social (online)

22nd April 2021 by London Bisexuals Meetup Group

Our group’s regular social on the fourth Thursday every month, currently still online (via Zoom) as an informal unstructured social chat. This month also coincides with John (organiser)’s birthday – fancy a game via Zoom anyone? Bring/eat some cake if you like?

This event is great for new members; very friendly, relaxed atmosphere, definitely social, fun, and happy; not meat-market, just informal chat and optional bring-your-own-drinks. While the group is London-based, for online events we have been happy to welcome people from all over the world – anywhere your waking hours suit our timezone. If you’re part of the bi+ umbrella identity (bisexual, pansexual, heteroflexible/homoflexible, polysexual, a suitable version of queer – basically any m-spec label), or think you might be (e.g. bi-curious or questioning) and can communicate with us, come say hi and hang out!

Supportive partners, and practicing allies also welcome – no biphobia, racism/micro-aggressions, transphobia or other bigotry allowed! If you have extra needs or questions, please get in touch via Meetup messaging/social media/email.

Who/what to expect…
Expect at least 10 of you (pub meets were 30-40 back in 2019), with a good mix of regulars and first-timers (roughly half and half – always a lot of new faces every time), genders (not too far from an even split of men/women, a few of whom might be trans, & non-binary people welcome too), a mix of ethnicities similar to or more diverse than the London population (aka. BAME/POC), and sometimes another neurodiverse person/people. The odd couple/+1 too.

This keeps it fresh and friendly to all – regulars chat to new folk. New members won’t be the only new person (by a long way) so you shouldn’t feel left out. If you turn up after the start and it looks like everyone already knows everyone – it only seems like that; its just how friendly we are. We finish late so we’re used to people coming and going through the evening.

Most people arrive within the first hour, it’s busiest at 9-9.30pm but a crowd is around til at least 10pm, often later (sometimes even a handful til midnight). When you first connect you’ll be in a waiting room, we will let you in after a few seconds (if it takes longer we might be busy, please be patient). Find us at: https://zoom.londonbi.org (will redirect to the zoom meet directly) – join the Meetup group to find out the meet id from the direct link there or message organiser John to ask.
