Queer Street

Queer Street is a brand new charity supporting young LGBTQIAP+ young people in the UK.

Vision: Transforming the lives of queer young people so they can live fulfilling and hope-filled lives.

Mission: To create safe and inclusive spaces, in person and online, where young LGBTQIAP+ people can find community, counselling and support. We aim to provide homes, social spaces and projects where young people can learn new skills, gain confidence and boost their sense of self-worth.

Why are we called Queer Street?
The term ‘up queer street’ is an old-fashioned saying that meant someone was in difficulty. We recognise that many LGBTQIAP+ young people face adversity – rejection, homelessness, poor mental health, hate crime – to name just a few. So we say to those young people, we’re here alongside you. We see you. And we want to help you through this. There is hope.

Let’s transform being ‘up Queer Street’ from being a place of difficulty and adversity, to being a community of safety and support.

We love the idea of creating a community, a space where queer youth feel at home. A community that looks out for each other and where a sense of true belonging can be found.
