We have just celebrated our 10th year in 2019 and are now pushing forward to create a bigger and better event for out LGBT+ communities in and around Barnsley.
So far, for the previous years we have had a one off event every summer with the footfall growing from just around 100 people to this year attracting in the region of 2.5k to 3k visitors. We have grown out of three different sites to our current venue being a town centre car park.
We are aiming for an increased footfall, better acts and an increase in engagement form our communities and local businesses and services.
Year on year we have had the support of Barnsley Council and local authorities, as well as South Yorkshire Police, the Ambulance Service, Local health and social care teams and various local businesses.
We are aiming to engage young people and adults from all areas of the LGBT+ spectrum within the locality, but we do have visitors coming from Rotherham, Sheffield, Wakefield, Doncaster and Leeds due to our good transport links.
We are not just looking at engagement within LGBT+ communities, we are also looking at engaging other allies from outside the LGBT+ sector to raise awareness and inclusion of all within the community.
