Opening Doors

Opening Doors provides services and support to LGBTQ+ people over 50. We aim to ensure that LGBTQ+ people over 50 live happy, healthy and independent lives that are free from loneliness, prejudice and discrimination. We do this be providing:

  •  social opportunities
  •  a befriending service
  •  the OD Rainbow Memory Cafe [support for people affected by dementia]
  •  intergenerational volunteering opportunities

We also work with health and social care organisations to support their services becoming more older LGBTQ+ affirmative and welcoming. We provide a range of training on a wide range of issues related to working with older people from the LGBTQ+ communities – and a national quality standard –  Pride in Care – for organisations wanting to celebrate their inclusive services.
