Birmingham Gay Symphony Orchestra

BGSO logo

Formed in 2008, the Birmingham Gay Symphony Orchestra brings together musicians from across the Midlands. We enjoy giving fun and engaging performances in venues across Birmingham performing orchestral classics, film scores, West End hits and more.

We don’t hold auditions for players, all we ask is that you are brimming over with enthusiasm for music and are ready to make lots of new friends! In a nutshell, anyone and everyone can join! As long as we have a vacancy within the orchestra, we allow musicians of all abilities and backgrounds. The only things we ask is that you are over 16 years of age, and can commit to the majority of rehearsals.

Many of our members hadn’t played their instrument in years before joining the BGSO, but now they practise daily! We are currently recruiting for our string, brass and percussion section but if you play a wind instrument, do let us know. We may have space.

If you are interested in joining the BGSO, get in touch. Rehearsals currently take place on alternate Sundays at City Hospital, Birmingham. Whilst we don’t ask for a minimum standard, we do ask that each player can commit to the majority of rehearsals.
