Violet joined Consortium part-time in October 2022 as the Trans Organisations Engagement Officer to support the growth and development of the Trans Organisations Network (TON). Having recently completed an MSc in Gender, Policy, and Inequalities at the London School of Economics, her dissertation explored how the UK’s use of the bridging hormones policy in trans healthcare settings negatively impacts the formation of trans and non-binary subjectivities.
Before immigrating to the UK from the US, Violet studied cultural anthropology, queer studies and ethics and worked for non-profits that serve previously incarcerated folks, women experiencing homelessness, LGBTQ+ youth, and sexual assault survivors. She is passionate about promoting gender diversity, anti/de-colonial future(s), and the relationship between theory and practice.
Violet lives in NW London with her partner, and outside of working hours can be found foraging for mushrooms in Hampstead Heath, searching for cats to pet, and thinking about food. She is a visual artist (painting and drawing), a lover of natural wines, and never gets tired of finding new places to eat in London. If you have a restaurant recommendation, send it her way!
