Sakib joined Consortium as one of our London Engagement Officers in February 2024.
Having worked with Consortium through their involvements in several member organisation on various projects including the Equity Grants Fund, Sakib thought it was time to try and officially join the Consortium Team when the position was announced (thankfully that worked out fine)! They have a background primarily within the creative sector across the visual and performing arts starting out however in fashion. Alongside this, they have worked with the South Asian LGBTQ+ community.
Sakib’s work has seen them hold many roles mostly they see themselves as an artist, curator and producer.
Sakib grew up in Manchester followed by a decade long stint by the seaside on the South coast in Brighton & Hove they are now call London home.
They can often be found in a colourful ensemble, generally shades and hues of blue, but not exclusively.
One of their favourite activities is putting on the kettle “for a cuppa” rather different from their time ‘living in nightclubs” but they can still be tempted (quite easily) out to throw some shapes. Being heavily involved in the creative industries they can often be found in exhibitions, performances, gigs and also deciding what to eat and sending memes!
