X2Y is seeking a sessional LGBTQ+ community worker (5 hours per week). £15 per hour on a self-employed basis.
Future plans – X2Y has recently secured funding from the National Lottery Community Fund for a three-year project to expand our work and reach out to more LGBTQ+ young people, from all Wolverhampton’s diverse communities, and their families. We have also moved to new home in Wolverhampton City Centre in a refurbished building where we are co-located with other LGBTQ+ organisations.
The successful applicant for this post will be someone who:
- has knowledge / experience of the LGBTQ+ community
- has awareness of the challenges facing LGBTQ+ young people and their families
- will work well under their own initiative and collaboratively within the X2Y team
X2Y currently provides two open access drop-in sessions each week. One is for LGBTQ+ young people aged 11-17 (Saturday afternoon) and the other is for the 18-25 age group (Tuesday evening). This post involves co-facilitating our 18-25 group with our outreach co-ordinator and developing our work with parents/families of LGBTQ+ children and young people.
X2Y is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk of abuse and carries out safer recruitment processes in line with local and national guidance. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS and barred list check.
