The Faith & Belief Forum create welcoming and affirming spaces for LGBT+ people of faith to meet others from similar and different backgrounds to themselves. We also work to educate our community partners on the diverse experiences and needs of LGBT+ people of faith, and how we can all be better allies through the work we do.

What this role entails:
The LGBT+Faith Volunteer will develop our online Facebook LGBT+ interfaith community through research and content creation. They will also assist with the design, setup, and administration of a new series of events for allies from across faith communities.
This will include:
- Developing and following a content schedule for our community Facebook group.
- Researching and creating content that inspires, engages and informs our diverse LGBT+ interfaith community e.g. discussion questions, inspiring stories, content about festivals and celebrations.
- Conducting interviews with community members and co-producing blogs which showcase their personal stories, and experiences of faith and belief.
- Helping prepare for events by generating new ideas, creating and organising resources, communicating with stakeholders, and key administrative tasks.
- Providing assistance at online events e.g. through hosting the chat, technical tasks, access tasks.
- Processing evaluations, and updating stakeholder records after events.
F&BF’s office hours are 09.30 – 17.30 Monday to Friday. We ask that at least 2 hours per month of volunteering takes place during these hours, to allow for team check-ins and attendance at project meetings where possible.
What we are looking for:
- Passion for the work of The Faith & Belief Forum, including our LGBT+Faith project.
- A sensitive and inclusive approach, particularly around issues related to LGBT+ and faith identities.
- A willingness to try new tasks, and to ask questions when unsure.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Some experience using the internet to conduct online research.
- Self-motivation, particularly when completing tasks remotely.
Desirable:
- Experience creating promotional content e.g. blog writing, creating infographics.
- Experience organising online events.
Training and mentoring:
- We will provide you with an induction on your first day.
- You will have a point of contact in your team who you will work with and who will provide coaching and feedback on tasks.
- We will reimburse reasonable volunteer expenses – travel to the office (up to £10 per week) and lunch (up to £5 per week).
