LGBTQ+ Support Worker, Greenwich and Bexley

Location: London
Closing Date: 30th Jan 2023
Receptionist and Workspace Coordinator

Employment Type: Employed

This role is to support the delivery of METRO’s groups for LGBTQ+ young people, alongside LGBTQ+ Group Leads. The successful applicant will work with the Greenwich and Bexley Group Leads to deliver sessions and complete a range of administrative and support tasks associated with the groups.

Programme

METRO youth groups provide safe, social spaces for LGBTQ+ young people to meet and receive support from youth workers and from their peers.

The groups provide a structured programme of activities, which address key areas such as: sexual and reproductive health, drugs and alcohol awareness, mental health and wellbeing, hate crime and bullying, support with employment, study and training and healthy living. They run as ‘closed groups’ and can be accessed through contacting the Lead youth worker for an initial 1-2-1 assessment. Young people set their own programme of activities.

The groups also provide opportunities to connect and participate in cross-group events such as Pride, youth summits, social events and other opportunities.

Role

This role will primarily work across two youth groups; METRO’s weekly Shine LGBTQ+ youth group in Greenwich, and the Zest group in Bexley. The role will also provide occasional cover for other LGBTQ+ youth groups in other locations across London, and will support occasional cross-group events and outings.

Application deadline: no later than 9:00am on 30th January 2023
