Umbrella Hangout: How LGBTQ+ Community History Shapes Today

Umbrella Hangouts is an online meet up for anyone who identifies as LGBTQIA+. and is over 18. The sessions will be held on Zoom between 7pm – 8:30pm. This session we will be lead by our guest speaker Sue Sanders Co-Chair of Schools OUT UK, looking at the place LGBT history has in our lives.

Sue Sanders and Paul Patrick co founded LGBT+ History Month in 2004. She trained as a drama teacher and has taught in schools and universities in the UK and Australia. Sue has been the recipient of many awards over the years, In February 2015 she received an Emeritus Professorship from the Harvey Milk School, and in 2019 she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement awards from the Rainbow Honours Board.

These sessions are a safe space for anyone who is looking for a friendly chat and a sense of community. Above all else, we want you to have fun!

There will be a structure to each session, but this space is for you. Whether you binged Heartstopper in one sitting or Arlo Parks got you in your feels, we want to hear about it!

We will email you the Zoom link on the day of the meeting.
