Many older LGBT+ people who are digitally excluded and socially isolated now by the pandemic are relying more than most people on the telephone for information and support to help them through the COVID-19 crisis.
As a result, while the ‘lock-down’ continues more organisations are providing increased information and support to older generations by phone, but not all staff and volunteers are finding telephone support as straightforward as they had anticipated.
This one-hour skills-based webinar led by a telephone support skills trainer from Opening Doors London will outline a structured approach to crisis support over the phone and introduce a practical communication skills model that enables good engagement, relationship building and emotional support, especially when people are feeling anxious, lonely or otherwise emotionally distressed.
